There should be a way to work around the relative symlinks. I'll take a look at it after the 4th and see what type of workaround I can come up with. You should switch out gauss.apisnetworks.com with the domain name to make it a bit more clear since the IP address of the domain name points to the server name (which isn't always gauss).
