Overview

Background Information

Our control panel, apnscp esprit, is an in-house developed control panel exclusive to Apis Networks. It has been in development since 2003 undergoing multiple revisions. A brief history of apnscp esprit versions may be found on our main Web site.

Usage

Accessing the manual

Esprit's manual is within this wiki under "apnscp esprit Manual". Although documentation is being filled it, it is still sparse at best. You are encouraged to read the text within the white box on each page in the control panel. This is called inline help designed to provide a quick summary of the features and how to use a particular page. More information can be found by clicking on the Help icon in the top-right corner. Accessing the control panel

You may access apnscp esprit through a shortcut URL on your account. Visit http://domain/cpadmin/ to be redirected to the control panel. Please note that each server has its own distribution of apnscp esprit. You may not log into the control panel of another server.

Important Login Information
The login mechanism is shared between FTP, SSH, apnscp esprit, SMTP, and IMAP/POP3. FTP, SSH, and e-mail use the same login form of user@domain. If your client does not properly interpret @ as part of the login, then you may swap @ with #. Logins should always be provided in lowercase. Unless you have made custom modifications to your DNS records the hostname/server name will always be your domain name. You may use any secondary domain attached to your hosting account listed in Multiple Domain Manager.

Logging in with just the username will not succeed. You must include the domain name. This is true for all logins except for MySQL and Urchin.

Reporting bugs

Do not file bugs from within the control panel. They may take a significant amount of time to fully resolve and are handled solely by Matt. Tickets focus around rapid response and are thus resolved rather quickly. Bugs on the other hand are not.

Bugs or defects within the control panel should be filed through the bug tracker. Be sure to include any error information reported in the status bar ("Action: Failed! ... details") and if any information had been entered into the page through a form, please include that information. The more data that can be collected on the bug, the quicker it can be resolved.

In the event you may be disclosing sensitive information -- remember the bug tracker is public -- drop Matt an e-mail directly.

Questions

Invalid certificate warning

Accessing the control panel over SSL such that the URL is https://cp.<server>.apisnetworks.com/ will result in a certificate warning. This is benign and may be safely ignored.

Two permanent workarounds exist to get rid of the message. First, and the easiest, would be to connect to the control panel unencrypted by changing https to http in the URL. A second option for those looking to ensure some degree of security is to install the certificate. By installing the certificate you are explicitly trusting it.

Under Internet Explorer click on View Certificate-> Install Certificate on the next screen. Complete the wizard to install the certificate. You should no longer be bothered by self-signed warnings.

Firefox is easier to trust an unverified certificate. Select Accept this certificate permanently on the warning screen to install the certificate.
